🌸 This Week’s Budget Round-Up: Easter Week Two – Eggs, Eats & Easy Wins 🌸

Woop woop – a week off!
It’s been ages since I’ve had proper downtime with the family, and this week was just what we needed. My fiancée had a couple of days off too (plus the bonus of Good Friday), so we packed in some quality time while keeping things budget conscious.

🟡 Easter Fun & Family Time
We kept things low-key but full of laughs. A highlight was bouncing around at Hull’s new Inflatanation – honestly, I think the grown-ups had more fun than the kids! Think giant ball pits, dodge zones, and a serious leg workout.

We followed it up with lunch at The Sailmakers. It wasn’t the best Greene King experience (bit of a miss on the food), but the kids loved eating out and sipping mocktails – maybe they needed a break from my cooking? 😅

We also squeezed in a York shopping trip (hello, PriMarni!) and picked up some essentials, including fresh trainers for the missus. The long weekend wrapped up with drinks with old friends, fresh trims for me and the boy, and a proper Easter Sunday roast with more chocolate than I care to admit.

💷 Weekly Budget Recap

We aim for £150 per week (including toiletries). Here’s how it shaped up:

  • 🛒 Food Shop: £213.39
  • 🍔 Takeaways & Treats: £52.13
  • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Daily Cost Per Person: £7.59

Yes, we went over—but £50 of that was Easter eggs for the kids and extended family, so no regrets!

UK Average vs. Our Family:
The average family of five spends about £210 per week on groceries. So even with our splurge, we’re still pretty close to the national average – and doing it with more planning and flavour!

  • Thursday: Freezer Dive Dinner
  • Friday: Homemade Big Macs & Fries
  • Saturday: Cheese & Biscuits Night
  • Sunday: Herbed Leg of Lamb Roast & Hot Cross Bun Bread & Butter Pudding

Seriously—this week was next-level tasty. That pudding? Chef’s kiss.
