Why We Love This Recipe

There’s nothing better than a snack that feels both indulgent and wholesome, and these chewy homemade granola bars tick every box. Packed with dried cranberries, juicy raisins, and sprinkled with crunchy almond flakes, they’re the perfect balance of sweet and nutty.

We love them because they’re so versatile: ideal with a cuppa, tucked into a lunchbox, or grabbed for a quick breakfast on the go. Plus, they’re far more satisfying (and cheaper!) than shop-bought snack bars.

Why This Dish Works on a Budget

Homemade snacks are always a winner for keeping costs down, and these bars are no exception:

  • Made from cupboard staples like oats, dried fruit, and honey – ingredients that stretch across multiple recipes.
  • Portion control built in – cut into 12 generous bars that easily replace pricey multipack snacks.
  • Customisable with what you have – swap the almonds for any nuts or seeds, or switch cranberries for apricots, dates, or sultanas.
  • Batch-cook friendly – one tray makes enough to last the week (if they don’t get eaten straight away!).

Will You Be Trying It?

If you’ve been looking for a way to cut down on snack spending without sacrificing flavour, these granola bars are a must-try. They’re chewy, nutty, and sweet enough to satisfy sugar cravings while being far more filling than biscuits or chocolate bars.

And the best part? You’re in control – less packaging, no hidden additives, just wholesome ingredients baked into every bite.

Final Thoughts

These Cranberry, Raisin & Almond Granola Bars prove that snacks don’t have to be expensive or complicated to be delicious. They’re easy to make, family-friendly, and a brilliant grab-and-go option for busy weeks.

Next time you’re meal prepping, add these to your list – you’ll thank yourself when the mid-afternoon hunger hits!

Ingredients

  • 300 g porridge/rolled oats
  • 150 g unsalted butter or baking spread
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 100 g dried cranberries & Raisins
  • 20 g almond flakes

Instructions

Preheat & Prepare

  • Heat oven to 200°C / 180°C fan / Gas 6. Line a 20 x 20cm square baking tin with parchment paper.

Make the Syrup Base

  • In a saucepan, melt together the butter, brown sugar, honey, and a pinch of salt. Stir until bubbling and fully combined.

Mix in the Goodness

  • Take off the heat, then stir in the oats, cranberries, and raisins until well coated.

Bake the Bars

  • Tip the mixture into your prepared tin and press down firmly with the back of a spoon to even it out. Scatter over the almond flakes. Bake for 20 minutes until golden at the edges.

Cut & Cool

  • Remove from the oven and leave for about 5 minutes. While still warm, cut into 12 bars (or larger squares if you prefer). Leave to cool completely in the tin before lifting out and transferring to an airtight container.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, toast the almonds lightly before sprinkling on top.
  • Swap the cranberries & raisins for apricots, cherries, or mixed seeds to mix things up.
  • These bars keep well in an airtight tin for up to a week – perfect for batch prep!
