The post is released today as I had to go away for a couple of days with the Army. Building on and following to the original post (Mothers Day) the treats and spoiling started on Thursday. This was where I got the kids to carry out a finger dot painting inside a love heart template.
This was not the easiest I must admit as trying to keep the kids from wanting to go mental with the paints is only normal for them but not in the aim of this project. Maybe I should of let them loose with flinging paint everywhere, or maybe not as I would still be cleaning now.
As you can see this is the finished version of the painting and I must admit I am actually really impressed.
This was finished on Saturday after we spent lunch at The Kings Arms Inn. I must say that the food was absolutely amazing and the staffs were so friendly. The question I know your asking is “what did you all have?”
Starting with the kid’s meals, our eldest chose Garlic Bread for starter and Ham, Egg and Chips for her main. Our youngest shared a starter of local cheese and bacon on toast followed by a Home-Made Mini Burger with Chips and Fresh Battered Chicken Goujons with Chips and Peas.
My Wife had a starter of Ham Hock, Foie Gras, Pistachio and Apricot Terrine with Sweet Onion Relish
followed by a Home-Made Burger (cooked medium rare) with Home-Made Relish and Beef Dripping Chips.
For myself I had Beer Battered Black Pudding with Relish for starter…..
followed by Rib-Eye Steak (cooked rare) topped with seared Foie Gras and sat on a Mushroom Risotto.
Did we have dessert? not on this occasion as we were all absolutely stuffed.
To the official day, Mothering Sunday.
We allowed mum to have a lay in of which when she woke she was greeted by cards and the finger painting of which she absolutely loved.
This was followed by a sumptuous and delightful brunch of Eggs Benedict. As a family this is actually one of our favourite treats on the weekend and a firm favourite of my wife’s.
The day was relaxed, allowing Bea to really unwind and then was topped off by another favourite and at the request of my wife, Toffee Apples. This ending to the day not only left a homely and satisfying grin on Bea’s face but the kids were also in their element biting into the crunchy toffee and releasing the juicy tartness of the Granny Smith apple.
As a closing note I wish all mums a very happy mothers day.
