Here I am, back with this months blog review and if I am honest with a little apology to start. I had aimed for my monthly review posts to be uploaded within the first two weeks of each month and yet, on the second review, I seem to have shifted to the right into quite possibly the March’s monthly review.
I do however have an excuse; I have not stopped, literally, well apart from eating, sleeping and family time through February and until now has been hectic.
What happened in February then? I hear you ask. Well to start on the 4 February 2017 the promotion board (results) for Staff Sergeant (SSgt) to Warrant Officer Class Two (WO2) was released. I have added the abbreviation in brackets in case I get carried away while typing away.
What would that matter to me as I am already a WO2? Well, for me to get promoted to Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) the promotion board is in December of which had been and gone. There is on some occasions additional selections where a vacancy appears due to some being selected for promotion, declining, maybe for family reasons or they are near the end of their career and are happy to finish as they are as a WO2. These are just two of many factors which may mean somebody does not want to promote. Sometimes extra jobs may come up which need to be filled with a specific rank such as WO1.
It was these additional selections that occurred in conjunction with the SSgt to WO2 board on the 4 February 2017 and I was informed of the good news that I was selected for promotion to WO1.
I was proper happy and celebrated with fellow soldiers and a few beers and port in the evening. Port is synonymous with the Armed Forces for celebratory drinks and toasts on Dinner Nights.
So, this is one day of good news, how can this effect the whole month. It is with promotion and a new job that my family and I would have to move and so over the next couple of weeks of February I found out where my new job was going to be, sorting out a new home and removals and all the other good stuff that comes with moving a family from one location to the next.
And there it is the foundation of why this post is late and a little insight on the promotions within the Army. I did manage to keep with uploading recipes so was not completely off the ball.
The recipes that I shared in February were;
February’s Stats and Analysis
Following on sharing how my blog progresses I believe is a good insight into whether I am ticking the right boxes with all you lovely readers and sharing recipes that I hope people enjoy making and most importantly eating with their family and friends.
Below are the page views for the month of February followed by a February vs January comparison;
As you can see my page views and pages per session had increased by a small margin but non-the-less a slight improvement and although the other categories are below this was a basis of 28 days’ vs 31 days so overall I am really happy.
Goals and Achievements
I had set myself four goals for February and can happily say that within the madness of promotion and getting ready to move I had achieved one with the other three I am currently working on.
The goal that I had achieved was reviewing and deleting any unwanted photos. This took me a good few hours over a couple of evenings and although quite slow at first as I was feeling quite attached to some of my first ever photos I soon became quite ruthless and in the end deleted in excess of 10000 photos. I did not even know I had taken so many but I had to take the necessary steps to move forward, have a fresh start to my blog and the way I would like to engage with you, the reader.
One of my social media achievements was creating my second but most satisfying Pinterest long pin. Practice, patience and working on my photos will only improve my Pinterest work.
I learned this from reading many articles and actually using sound advice from Pinch of Yum Food Blogger Pro of which I subscribed to. This forum is invaluable and I can see why so many bloggers rave about it and it has taught me many new aspects for my blog to improve and yet I have so much more to learn. There is a waiting list to join but it is so worth the wait.
Moving to March and among the moving home I will continue on the three remaining tasks which are;
- Learn how to take better photos with my DSLR camera.
- Update some areas of my blog to make it that little bit more professional.
- Work on managing social media, mainly Pinterest.
So, month two completed and so much has and is still happening.
If you have any comments, suggestions please do not hesitate to drop me a message as I am always looking for positive feedback and tips from you all.
