Baked Sweet Potato Fries

This is a very easy and simple way to jazz up your sweet potato. It is a great side dish to burgers, pan-fried chicken or even eaten on there own. They are baked to perfect crispiness with a smoky paprika taste that lifts the sweetness from the potato.

I used a non-stick baking tray to cook these. If you ensure that your oven is fully pre-heated this will help. Each oven is slightly different, so you may find that increasing or decreasing the temperature may make your fries crispier and to your liking. I have also amended the recipe to include this detail. This recipe, to keep the fat content down as best as possible is by baking rather than deep frying which would give a crisper frie. Thank you for your comment too as they are really appreciated and i hope you get a crispier frie the next time you try.

Maybe baking them on a rack over the baking tray would lead to crispier fries 🙂

It’s better with coconut oil. Melt and pour over fries. Yum! It enhances the sweet potato taste and it’s healthier. Otherwise, a good dish.

      Lorrie,
I would recommend using a sharp knife and take your time. A sharp knife is key to preparing any foods and practice using your knife to ensure your comfortable with the blade shape and size. Knives come in various sizes and shapes and are for specific jobs. If you would like any further advice please do not hesitate to send me a message.

I do deep fry my sweet potatoes in extra virgin olive oil. I just decided recently to try a slight microwave on them first. Depending on the size I microwave them from 1 to 2 minutes depending on the size. I doubt if it would work on broiled ones but it is amazing on fried ones. Just let them cool, peel cut up and fry.

This was delicious, simple and so good to just leave while you work away doing what you do. This dinner allowed me to do a few jobs around the house as I spend some time off during the kids half term.
